34.5 weeks Pregnant and 6.5 weeks on THM

Wow....seems that time is sure speeding up for this mama! :)

At the beginning of my 34th week I weighed in at one pound above my pre pregnancy weight! I have to say it sure feels good to be looking done the home stretch knowing that this time I am healthier than I have ever been.

I was so thankful to switch over to Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle eating. I am also in week 6.5 of gestational diabetes and THM has helped me work through the process with a much healthier way of looking at it!
Although, I must take insulin at night, last week I was able to drop back down to 8 units of insulin at night only. I only need to check my blood a few times a day now opposed to seven!
My husband is really enjoying our new lifestyle eating and is helping me with meal planning and budget shopping! I love that THM is also bringing us together in a new way! And with having 3 kiddos and one quickly on the way, the moments of bliss together is so wonderful blessed!

I am blessed and excited about THM and will continue to eat with pleasure after the baby! Although at the moment, I am eating seven small meals a day, each with a protein...I feel like a stuffed turkey! But I have lost inches in my thighs, buttocks, arms and even my face. My wedding ring still slips on and off with ease and I feel amazing. The proof is in the pudding LOL!

Be encouraged, Be blessed and share it all with others!

Beading Adventures.....Love it!

Now, for anyone who knows me sitting still really is not my thing. I like to be busy and on the go! I realize that now my pregnancy is coming close to the finish line that maybe just maybe I need to relax.....

But that does not mean being a lump on a log in front of a screen zombie like.....
So this beading is such a relief for me! I am learning to do something that is not only creative, productive, beautiful but also makes me feel complete. Makes me feel accomplished. Artful and joyful intertwined. Like I always was meant to learn how to do this. Like its in my blood!

I love sitting down at the end of the day, putting a video on (usually a teaching video, a sermon or on the days my brain just won't work out so awesome, I put in a silly dvd to listen to!)

And I sit and bead for hours! The hours slip by with out knowing. The time is a time of serenity and calmness. Where the quiet is washed over me and I am in a zone!

Below are my works from a period of a week long effort to practice with beading!

This is only the second try!

Below I did together, so I did both of the black outlining first and then the color and then the outsides.

Below is all five of the completed Poppies!
I did the last two in a night for my son and my hubby!

I chose to try the poppies for Remembrance day. So we can have a beautiful piece that we can wear without falling off and that look awesome!

I have to say I am truly in love with Beading! This is opening up a passion that I never knew existed!

Profiles of Valour, written Marilyn Boyer & Grace Tumas

~Book Review~

I want to tell you that when the book came in I fell in Love. Not because I am an avid history fan, because to be quite frank history has always been a subject of boring facts made to run on forever. When teaching my children about history I try to inject fun, crafts and more opportunity to live it than read it!

The front cover is done so beautifully, this is what stole my heart to begin with. Imagery is a very big attractant to myself when looking at anything. Then you open the book and it honestly transforms you into another world.

First, each chapter opens with the character quality that the following story with highlight. A definition of the character quality and a KJV Bible verse to further showcase God's plan for this character quality. I have to say I love this, I want to photocopy and get my kids to color on them and then laminate them and place them all over my house!

Then the historical, biblical story on these amazing Americans that shaped, formed, and fought for! The narrations are long enough to showcase history in its finest, and illustrations to show you the depth of the men. These narrations are not to long, as to lose interest but long enough to explain and transform you into an era that before unimaginable. I really got caught up in each one and then beauty of the words, how the words came to life within my hands. The tears, the devotions and I was enthralled.

At the end of each chapter is a questions page, and the questions are amazing to really see if the person or child really retained the biblical character quality of the chapter. I really love how easily understood it was and amazing the questions were.

Then some of the chapters also have a quote from the gentleman you were learning about and to further highlight the character quality.

Myself, I loved the book as an adult. It kept me on the edge of my seat with anticipation and a thirst to continue. As a parent, I am adding this to my nine year olds book for grade four starting in September. I believe it is an amazing way to showcase history, bible facts, character qualities and interest throughout!

Also, because of this book I will be purchasing for my nine year old the Level 3- Character Concepts because I am able to see how visual, intellectual and easy understand the books are. I was already purchasing the Preschool pack but now I will do both. I truly am blessed to have had the opportunity to have read this book and blessed with such a biblical history that truly inspired me!

**Disclaimer**

I was not in any way shape or form paid for my opinion. The opinions expressed are 100% my own! I did receive the book in print in order to review it.

Praying that each of you were encouraged by my post today. May you be blessed and May you equally bless others on your way.

Since when is 2 years supposed to fly by so quickly???????

It’s amazing how two years can speed past like a locomotive!
After my endometriosis surgery in 2008 I was able to conceive our second child a boy. (His birth story coming up at the end of August! )  After the emergencies of that labour and delivery, the postpartum issues, and all that entails the doctors explained that I should be able to conceive again but…….if my cysts were to return that the chances of conceiving would be minimal at best.

So we gave it to God and let Him have it. Our second child was 14 months old, we were caught in the middle of a heated court case with my biological mother and living in a fifth wheel trailer on my father’s homestead on the reserve. I was working at our Band School as a Receptionist/lunch lady/supervisor/everything that needed to be done!  My cheque was small and had to feed, clothe and house two adults and two children.  Needless to say that conceiving a baby was not high on our list of worries. Although, we were wondering why hadn’t we conceived yet….our second child was nearing 14 months old, an age where most women are already pregnant again(provided they are not on birth control of some sort).  *1*
Then it happened, a cyst! I had the worst horrible pains, pains that sent lightening bolts from my toes into the top of my skull. Our vehicle wasn’t working and so my dad had to drive me to the diagnostic centre in our town.  Going down the property, rocks, bumps sent me into a wave of nausea and extreme pain. It was like having someone take an exacto knife from the inside and cut your muscles in long strokes.
The doctor gave me a shot, and a few pills to help me get through the rest of what was happening. The cyst was going to burst and when it did the pills would take the excruciating pain and ease it! This also would cause me to be extremely loopy, drowsy and make me sleep for about 12 hours. Then two days of harsh flu like symptoms and then it would be all over…..
I was devastated. I was afraid. I did not want to go through having endometriosis again……..I also started to grieve, rail, anger, and finally got down on my knees.
“God, if this is the end of me being able to have babies, it is your will! I trust that you know whats best for me, for us and for our family! You have seen us through so much already, I know that whatever will be, you will let it be for the best of us and me! Although, I am angry and sad, I am going to trust you. We made a promise, a covenant that we will trust you for the size of our family, we give it to you and now I am going to restart my heart and renew with the same.  We are blessed with the two miracles that we have. We are blessed with eachother and we are blessed to have you guiding our lives. So I give it all to you!”
The next few weeks passed and I started having dizzy spells, nausea, aches and pains…all of which I chaulked up to my renewal  endometriosis. All of the same symptom’s as being pregnant for me.
Although, I had a renewed sense of faith, a renewed sense of peace, a renewed love for God and God’s will in my life!
An elder of our band and I were talking…I still remember her sweet face, the knowing smile, the way she laughed and said, “Stacey your pregnant!”  I still remember laughing it off and patting her hand and explaining what endometriosis meant for my body. And the way she dismissed my explanation with an all knowing smile and left it at that.  That being said, my hubby decided that was enough for him, he bought me a test! So on Dec. 15th, 2010, Grandmothers birthday the stick came up as positive.
At first, confusion, baffled and then plain old stunned..this couldn’t be! I had a cyst, I I I I….then my hubby with tears in his eyes said, “Not I, Not We but God!” Praise the Lord for another blessing!
We chose to go with a midwife this time. I had enough of doctor’s and all that surrounded that. (when I write about Malachi’s birth, you will understand!) So we found Willow Community Midwives in Penticton and were able to get in to see them.
I have to say I have never felt more comfortable, or that birth was such a natural happy time. After one hour appointment I was at ease and comfortable. Until, I had to go and get “approved” for midwifery care, that was scary but all in all I was with my midwives for my prenatal care. I was able to get to know each one of the four midwives at the office. I was able to trust, and get to know each one. They let me talk out all of my fears with them, they gave me valuable advice on how to deal with each fear, pain and what not! Now, they also gave all of this to me without having to ever say, “here’s a pill!” they are highly educated on natural ways of easing all sorts of things, they are highly educated with how to deal with so many wonderful things. I felt always important and heard. I was validated and listened to.
Our midwives were excellent when it came to my modesty at all times, they were attentive to all of the things we were not going to do with our baby and our pregnancy. They were amazing with research and knowledge to back up their opinion and advice! They were always my advocate, my voice and in turn I trusted them with my life and they life growing with in me!
Prenatal care with Willow Community Midwives, was and is my most valuable relationship between them and us! If I can help it, I will chose to always have this amazing group of women always be in charge of my prenatal, labour and post natal!
At 36 weeks gestastion, my blood pressure was sitting at 100/80 and would not budge….so we had to be checked out by a specialist. Now, my midwives were pro’s. They were my voice, my advocate, my champions. They made sure that the maternity ward was well aware of my modesty, my privacy and our religious beliefs. They made sure that everything I went through was explained in detail. They were loving, caring, nurturing and direct when needed. They kept my hubby always in the loop with every single large or minute detail!  I had to go onto some mild blood pressure meds. This scared me so much, but having the midwives and a really understanding specialist, I was at ease. We informed them if needed we will be induced at any time! The health of the baby and me was first and foremost!  They said that was good if we needed to but they felt perfectly at ease.
At 37 weeks, I felt like my water was leaking…I had a lot of fluid…went in got check out. Turns out I had gotten a very routine mild infection and needed to take some antibiotics, the specialist checked me out as well and decided to induce but she wanted to wait till I was 38 weeks.  The midwives were amazing. They were so awesome, even when I called a hundred times….for every small thing that at the time seemed so big. They were gentle and kind and reassuring, even letting me come into be checked even when I know it was to only ease my mind. They were such amazing people, to care and to really take care in this way. I have never had that ever!
It was explained that I had to take it easy, because this particular weekend there would be not maternity staff on at the hospital. If I needed I would be transferred to Kelowna where my midwives would meet me there…..Both Sean and I did not want that! No Way! No Sir! No How! So for the weekend I remained a vegetable sitting, waiting….it was the longest 48 hours ever!  No on Monday, I was scheduled to get this labor started at 10am. So, that morning I, did everything I could to help it along. I also had a half an hour bath so I felt refreshed, clean and ready!
We got to the hospital and by the time they checked me I was already three centimeters dilated! J They tried to break the waters but It did not work out so wonderful! So hooked up on monitors and and iv and then to just wait! It was nice, to know that in a few hours we would be holding our baby! That this was going to be right now that I was in good hands that I was with people that had my best interests at heart. To know that I was surrounded with amazing people was Gods gift to me!  The labour started with in the hour or so, I was frustrated because I had to be on the monitors, thankfully  my midwives kept coming in and taking them off so I could go pee, walk around…..after lunch it kicked in and the contractions  were wonderfully and painfully hard!
I was able to sing hymns through most of the contractions…and then they broke my water….whoa nelly that was hard but the midwives were there, comforting, supporting. My wonderful Hubby was there helping, comforting, laughing trying to make me feel at ease! I went to go pee, tried different positions, and then went back to lay in the bed. Then the pain was more than I could take. I felt useless, I felt that I was weak, and not able to handle this. This was not going to work. No way this normal childbirth is for me. Lord, help me. I cannot do this. I cant I cant I cant I cant…..Sean looked at me and told me it was ok that I get some meds. That I didn’t need to do this naturally. It was ok. From where he was standing, he cannot believe I was as strong as I was thus far….because he could never endure pain like this! So, I opted for the needle to relieve some of the pain….minutes later my midwives came in and there was no way I could take it anymore…GIVE ME THE DRUGS!  Still praying for God to grant me reprieve from the horrendous pain, sad and more sad, because I really wanted to go all the way with no drugs…..the nurse looked at me, they explained there would be a few minutes to get the medicine.  Then the pain, hard, forceful…..where is the pain Stacey? In my mind I was like, really where do you think it is….lol but I communicated nicely….then the midwives checked me, smiling, and said you are ready no time for those drugs….your baby is coming…..

In an instant, God stepped in and wrapped me with His arms of strength and mercy and courage….no other explanation can explain what happened and what came over me…God gave me what I could bare and then took me the rest of the way.  Now, after I was terrified, for with our second child I had blood clots…..the biggest was the size of a serving dinning plate…so naturally when my first pee came around and there were clots I freaked out….my midwives were there (literally in the bathroom) to wipe away my fear tears, to explain, to reassure, to hold my hand and make sure I was ok. I will never ever forget what compassion, what amazing women these midwives are! The best care I have ever had in my life!
Naturally, our baby girl came into this world. Naturally, our child the beautiful baby she was healthy, and beautiful. We praised the Lord, for the gift that was given. I praised the Lord, for the Lord showed me more in those hours than anything I have learned in any other expierence. He gave me strength, he gave me love, He gave me mercy, He gave me endurance, He gave me will power, He gave me perseverance, He gave me His word and He Delivered.
No emergency, No worries, No long hospital stay! Miraculous! 24 hours later we were back at home and enjoying family, and friends.
Our midwives were amazing. Post natal care was phenomenal!  Even when I called every few days about this little fear or that. They answered each and every time with patience, encouragement and grace!
God gifted me these women! God gifted the exact everything that I had needed. I am blessed and humbled by what God has shown me and gifted to me!
Thank you to my husband, whom is loving, caring and stern when needed!
Thank you to Ally and Michelle for being there all the way!
Thank you to our friends that watched our two gorgeous children!
Thank you for reading how our beautiful Zara was born!

Parenting From the Heart, written by Marilyn Boyer (BOOK REVIEW)

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone,

Hoping that each of you had a fabulous weekend, if your from Canada a Happy belated Canada Day to you all, and if your from the USA then an Early Happy Fourth of July!

I was honored and privileged to be selected to review a book from a wonderful author. A little background of how I came across this author, her family, her business/ministry.....

A year ago a dear dear friend of ours from our church that we love so very very much in Maple Ridge, BC (Fraser Valley Baptist) gave me a workbook on the book of Proverbs. I loved it so very much that I told my husband that the next years ordering for Homeschool I will have to research other workbooks like it. You see I had already pre ordered for this present year.

So this year before pulling out my list, I started researching and I was amazed at this family's dedication to the Lord, for their convictions and for their God gifted talent for writing amazing material that is so unique and so educational and specifically written with God first.

So now that I gave you my introduction to the how's lets see what this book is all about......

First of all, I am one that no matter what I believe that God uses so many different avenues to speak to each of us in different ways and when we need it the most. I also firmly believe that not one single person is a perfect parent or perfect person. We all are human beings, we all have flaws and we all will fall short at one point or another. I believe its what you do with that particular knowledge that will make you a better parent and a better. I believe in always always reading, reading material that is going to give you a real perspective and also lines up with your beliefs and your home.
Remember not everything is going to work, but you take what you can and you try. Your children will always see that you want to always learn and align your lives with your own convictions and beliefs!

Parenting from the Heart, is a real book, about a real family, with real struggles and with real hardships! A great loss within family, great joy, great faith and a great ability to have faith and learn and walk on!

I found that upon reading the pages, the words jump off and into my heart, as if God guided Marilyn's hand in writing just for me, just for my struggles, just for my situations! The chapters are wonderfully written and smoothly transition from one to the next with ease. As a woman, as a wife, as a mother  and as a homeschooling mama/teacher, I found this book soooo helpful and relieving. I laughed, I burst into tears, I felt sorrow, pain and the Lords love through each page. I felt renewed and that I really can do this. Sometimes us, mama's get tired or frustrated and God gives us a book like this to encourage, strengthen and showcase that He is there and He holds us dear!

I needed to read this book, I loved this book, and I have to say that it helped me so very much. I will say no more than that for I believe this book and this amazing Sister in Christ, speak volumes for themselves.

I pray that you are able to read this book, and that it is as uplifting and encouraging to you as it was to me.

I would like to add, I have in no way been paid for this review. I received the book and a worksheet in exchange for my review. The opinions I have shared are 100% my own and how I personally feel!

Have an amazing and spaztastic week,
Stacey Homemaker~

Focus on the Family: Fight Right , Marriage Seminar in Kelowna, BC

Focus on the Family Presents:
Fight Right with Dr's. Les and Leslie Parrott
Kelowna, BC
June 15, 2013

Well, I have to start off saying that I came across the seminar from the Thrive Magazine that gets mailed to us from Focus On the Family. I instantly was excited and ever sooooooo eager to go.....

My wonderful husband on the other hand (although absolutely loves me) thinks that our marriage is awesome(which I completely agree with) and thinks that a marriage seminar really is not needed.

Although, my hubby also knows that anything to do with learning is worth a look into. So I did! Found out location, date and time. Found out that the two hosting the seminar both are Psychologist's. And are Parents and have been married for 14 years.

Just so happens, that this seminar landed the day before my birthday (what a bargaining chip that God gifted to me). I also found out that the start time was at 7pm. You see our store is open 6 days a week, 9-5, and Kelowna is 1 hour and 45 mins away from our town, that leaves a wee little wiggle room to stop for a coffee too! You see, you have to get all your facts straight before negotiations. LOL

Also, we have three gorgeous children, 8yrs old, 3 yrs old, and 1.5yrs old......hmmmmm who to babysit....we rarely rarely rarely ever go out anywhere....last time was when my mom (adopted) was living with us in November.

So, I phoned up my mom! She said, YES!!!!!!!!!!! so my husband was ever so wonderful to indulge me for my birthday present! The tickets were very affordable as well, $15.00 each ticket! Yeah!

We had all of this figured out by the end of April, for you see I am a planner LOL......then we hit a slow bump in our road for the store, the money really wasn't where it needed to be....our must haves needed our full attention and our wants needed to be put on hold. You see, the gas, and to eat is not the cheapest, and at $1.40 a litre for gas....we were just gonna to not go....

My husband was devastated and really wanted for us to go because he knew how much it meant to me. I held strong and said it wasn't a big deal. Next year we could go. (we both know that I was utterly heartbroken.) We offered to give the tickets away. We prayed and thanked God for the blessing it could be for someone else. We prayed. I prayed to have a thankful heart despite circumstances.

I picked up the phone, and called my mom, to tell her that we had to cancel. And although my voice was light and cheerful she knew something was up.....After explaining our circumstances...God used her to bless us. For she now knew what I needed for my birthday....

I also found a surprise, my big brother (adopted) was flying in from Calgary to visit with us for the weekend....What a blessing God gifted us. For I would be honoured to spend my birthday and Father's day with my wonderful family!

The day before everyone was to arrive, I had a midwife appointment.....I had lost one pound(I have only gained 2lbs in 15weeks), and my blood pressure was phenomenal(which also is such a blessing) then came our test.....Could not detect our precious baby's heart beat...although our midwife was optimistic she was worried so she scheduled us for a rush appointment the following Thursday. I also had to be scheduled for a OBGYN appointment (a must have after having bp issues in the past, I must be deemed fit for midwifery care by a specialist) :(.......

God was in this too. Sean and I prayed. At first, I was sooo worried. Then I prayed, I gave it to the God that holds my every best interest at heart and for His Will to be done. I decided right there that no matter what may happen God's Will to be done, and if it is His Will for our baby to return back to Him then it is meant to be.

This weekend was meant to happen at the exact moment when we needed it the most. My mom came up the next day, that night her and I had awesome quality time and drove to Kelowna to pick up my brother from the airport. Then we Had the seminar the next night and then the next day was my birthday and it was one of the best yet! For you see, my dad and my grandparents came for dinner. God gifted me amazing family around me....he gave me love and strength!

So, lets get back to this seminar.....

First of all, I have to really say that I am very impressed on the location that Focus on the Family chose. It was soooo easy to find and get to. It was right off the highway! That was sooo nice....and great for my hubby!

We were greeted with amazing and smiling faces. A very warm welcome. We were able to get right into the line for the "picture". Focus on the Family set up a photo shoot for all of the couples. Ours is right at the top of this page. I thought it was so very nice, and what a thoughtful was to commemorate our time at the seminar. I don't know about you but we don't have many pictures at all with both of us in the same photo...unless its our family photo...once a year! lol. So I thought this was a very wonderful addition to the seminar.

The seminar had a big screen that was displaying "marriage facts" in a power point for our viewing pleasure while we waited for it to start. Dr. Les and Leslie Parrott are extremely humorous, and warm and very friendly. Sean actually laughed....genuinely laughed at their illustrated stories and analogies on marriage. They were soo fun and animated. We really enjoyed how much fun they were.
Here are my notes.

Fighting or Conflict
  • every conflict (or almost every one) can be traced back to perception
  • Perceived Threat or Perceived Neglect

Rapport: a relationship of mutual understanding or trust and agreement between people.
:a close connection marked by community of interests or similarity in nature or character

You can clearly see why we sometimes have conflict....LOL!

Approach to problems:
MEN: want to fix or solve (instantly)
WOMEN: want to explore, talk, feel

XYZ FORMULA

in situation X, when you do Y, I feel Z

Withholds: are things that you didn't tell your spouse during the week. They can be good or bad.

Sharing Withholds: had to happen with in the last 48 hours
One Positive: spousal response is a simple thank you no more no less
One Negative: spousal response is a simple thank you no more no less
One Positive: spousal response is a simple thank you no more no less

Do not talk about the withholds now for 30mins give yourselves some cooling off time before discussing.

This is all the notes I had. I honestly have to say that although I loved the seminar it was extremely entertaining we both expected more from University Professors and Psychologists. Expected more meat with all of the fun and simplicity.

We were also a little discouraged. Focus on the Family is such an overtly "Christian" Organization, and there was very little about God in this seminar. We prayed prior to the second half of the seminar, and praying for the hearts of the spouses. That was really it. We expected that since it was hosted and put on by Focus on the family that the seminar would be how to work through your fights with God, from a biblical perspective. That was just not how it happen.

We loved it though, and had a wonderful date night. The night was entertaining and fun and light hearted. Hoping the seminar in November is more biblically based!  I would also like to purchase the Parrott's books, because I know that's where the meat and potatoes is! I just have to save up for them!!

Thank you for reading and may it be a blessing to you.

Whats in a Language......Whats in my own.....Part 3

Good Afternoon, Photography courtesy of Shelly Boyd

 Good Afternoon,
Praying that today is filling your heart with joy and gratefulness that we are almost into the summer!

We left off with my failure of my first Nyselxcin class....and if you remember correctly I learned quite a bit from and it was the harder class to begin with! :)

In January, my eldest daughter and I began Nyselxcin Naqs which is the beginner course for our language. I loved this class. Now by no means was this class easier. LOL! This language has a lot of guttural sounds, clicking, even the way you breathe is a specific sound when that sound comes out.

I am telling you this was harder to learn than singing for me. The joy I received from learning our language is indescribable. I felt that I fit in, I was welcomed, I belonged and in time I could really be good at it.

At this point I am now feeling not the overwhelmed anxieties of who I was because a piece of my heritage was molding with in my heart. This class was being taught by a wonderful woman, whom believes that anyone wanting to learn should be encouraged and helped as much as you can. Both her and our elder teacher are the most amazing women. I have to say I have never met two woman work so hard for something, with such passion and strength and love. These two taught me so much about myself and about where I came from. The knowledge is priceless and I can never repay them for the price would be far to high. They are worth so much to me.

You see our language was going extinct and from the efforts of a few (but growing now) people they are growing, thriving and teaching. I am so proud of all of the hours or effort behind the scenes that go un noted, un documented. The Hours the amazing ppl put in writing proposals, record audio, writing booklets for our amazing children, songs, curriculum, stories......I know from personal experience how much they work. I have to say each one of them deserves a medal for how much they do!

This class we  as an entire class were able to get to lesson 10 before the time was up. And this class I passed!

By this time I was so blessed with many friends and family. I was blessed with my children learning this gorgeous language that comes from our heritage.

We learned greetings, numbers, food, family tree, and so much more. It made me want to become bilingual and teach my other children as well. So all that summer we practiced until even my 3 and 1 year old understood the words from the lessons 1-10 at least to hear and understand.

At this time I was trying to obtain my status.....because my parents were so young when I was born there were a lot of misunderstandings yuppers some arguments and what have you, so when I was little I did not receive my status.

When I was in high school because alot of stressful situations and fighting occurred again I was unable to get my status.

When I was born my father was never added to my birth certificate. Which poses a problem when I am older and trying to get my status.

As it stands INAC requires that your birth certificate says who the father is. This is just to apply for your status.

Because of difficult situations with my mother this was a stressful, hurtful, and extrememly emotional painful process to go through.
Also, I live in the city in which my parents were when they got pregnant with me and where a lot of their growing  up was!

So you can imagine stories and rumours and so much else! It was very scary and even some things from my mother made me question whether my dad was my dad.....

It was an extremely traumatic situation with a fair amount of stress. My beautiful, thoughtful, caring loving husband, God and good friends and family really saw me through it!

We got the paternity test and it came back 99.999% my dad was mine!!!!!!!!!!!:) :)

The relief was indescribable. It was wonderous! Unfortunatley,INAC said they needed my birth certificate changed...and wouldn't you know it! In order for my bc. to be changed my birth mother had to sign the live birth registration for it to be changed......

A door closed, slammed shut frustration, agony, anger my resolve was now slowly falling. Seeking God for strength, endurance and perseverance.

God sent me my husbands love, my husbands grace for my emotions, my husbands arms to hold me through the tears, my husbands ears to listen to the crying, the anger, the disappointment the fear and my husbands amazing faith in God our Creator to hold me steadfast and on the path!

God gave me my amazing Husband!

Well, for today I feel that will be enough. I have talked your eyes off lots probably.
Until next post,
may you be blessed today and may today you equally be a blessing to others.

Laundry Laundry Laundry

Ever wonder what happens when you go to sleep? I believe that all the laundry decides that it wants to get even with its humans…..

You see humans treat their clothes so cruelly, so they get together and I believe they multiply themselves, so as to watch in our utter despair when we see the Mount Everest in our laundry room.

Yup, I can see the clothing snickering and full out laughing at our faces as we sigh, and moan at the overflowing baskets and the expensive laundry soap that we go through like water.

They really get a kick out of that…. Now seriously, I do not believe that our clothes have a life or a soul of their own but sometimes it makes the mountains seem not so horrific when humor is added.

This is truly my face when I walk down my stairs and remember that the laundry is quickly overruling my home.

Even worse is how much it costs to launder a family of five (soon to be 6). At this time of writing this post in a week I can do upwards of ten loads of just clothing per week. Not to mention the bedding of five people.

Not to mention that I and our eldest daughter have extremely sensitive skin. Which means that we end up cracky and bleeding with most soap. So when we find a laundry soap that the whole family can use it’s a rarity. The only one that fills the need is Tide.

Now if anyone purchases Tide in Canada you know the wonderful price of a container that our size family needs for a minimum of a month of laundry washes……well lets look at some prices shall we……

www.walmart.ca/en

Tide Original liquid           64 uses =$15.95

Tide Original Powder    80 uses =$15.95

Tide Coldwater                 64 uses =$15.95

Tide Liquid 2x Free          96 uses =$21.78

Tide Powder                      120 uses =$21.78

(original scent)

Wow…..now I know that $15 or even $21 bucks may be like yeah but its 64 uses or its 120 uses! I get that but when you think about the fact that do ten loads of laundry per week that’s quite a bit of soap.

Not to mention that I would rather be spending our hard earned monthly budget on amazing, nutritious food for my growing bunch. I want to cut down costs of things like laundry soap down to as little as I can!

So one day I was watching this show on TLC and can you imagine having 19 kids and laundry….eeeek just imagining it I am seeing the horror film of laundry showcases across my eyes.

19 kids and Counting, with The Duggars had an episode about how they make their own laundry soap and how much it costs them.

So you better believe, I went searching for their web site and found that recipe. Now I have tweaked it to work for my family and our sensitive skin needs as well. Lets compare and see how your budget will like it, shall we…..

Stacey Homemaker Laundry Soap

                10gallons $.85

This last my family of two adults, an 8 year old, active 3 year old and a into all 1 year old four months. Now this is based on no more than 10 loads per week for four months. Now if we get sick or it is especially muddy we can go through this in three months. But in the three years that I have been making our own soap we have never had it last less than three months.

This is how I do it…

I watch when we go shopping and as soon as my Ivory or Dove bar soap goes on sale for $2.99 for ten bars I buy a couple packages.

I purchase Borax from Superstore. The box is the size of a dishwasher detergent box, and is green in color. It is found in the laundry section. When I purchased it I got it for $5.99 for a 3kg box. Also at superstore, in the laundry section is Washing Soda. For a 3kg box $6.94.

recipe

Ingredients needed:

ÿ  1 Cup Washing Soda

ÿ  ½ cup borax (if washing greasy, oily or extra dirty on a daily basis increase to 1 cup)

ÿ  2 bars of Ivory or Dove Soap (use a butter knife to shave the bar into thin shavings, this is easiest when melting)

ÿ  Small pot (to be used only for this reason always)

ÿ  Measuring spoon (to be used only for this reason always)

ÿ  Knife (to be used only for this reason always

ÿ  10 gallon camping water jug (we purchased ours at Wal-Mart)

ÿ  funnel

Directions:

ÿ  Bring (slowly) to a boil the soap and water I use about two cups of water, careful not to leave stove top until all of the bar soap is dissolved. Can boil over very quickly.

ÿ  Pour your pre measured washing soda and borax into your 10 gallon jug

ÿ  When water and bar soap is completely dissolved add to the 10 gallon jug

ÿ  Mix until borax and washing soda are completely dissolved

ÿ  Transfer to the bathroom, hot water from tap to fill to the top.

ÿ  Let sit for 12 hours, about 150ml p/load

Now I know you’re thinking that’s crazy….85 cents and you get 10 gallons of laundry soap….

So when you factor in that it takes you about ½ hour per three months to make this laundry soap. Wow.

So do the math…for a family of 5 I make this on an average 3 times a year which equals $2.55 per year…now that is only 12% of what it costs of the tide that would last about 2 and ½ months for our family (using the 120 uses at $21)

I don’t know about you but that means I have all of that extra money to use in our grocery budget for good, organic and local produce filling my families bellies.

I pray that this post gave you something to think about and maybe to help out to showcase where we are able to cut the budget…

And guess what, our 8 year old loves to do this with mama every four months as a project when the little one’s have gone to bed. Homeschooling tip (Science-solutions, solid into a liquid)

Have a blessed day and may you be equally a blessing to others throughout your day.
