Crafting an Effective Writer Topic #2: Identify and describe a favourite activity or interest and provide at least 4 reasons why this activity or interest holds your attention and/or is enjoyable to you.

                               Nyselxcin is a language being revived from the brink of extinction, by the very dedicated language keepers of our valley. Our culture, language and traditional ways of the First Nations people are slowly being driven into extinction because of generational problems and racism. The traditional language keepers of many nations were ripped from homes and beaten into submission via the residential school system. The Nyselxcin language was illegal to use for the First Nations people. This explains why so many First Nations languages were drowned out never to be heard again. In my valley, we have dedicated, motivated and amazing men and women that work tiresly so individuals like me can hear, learn and speak the language of our people, and to gift on the traditions to future generations. These same language keepers are showcasing and illuminating respect for our people, for ourselves, for our culture, for our language, and for our traditions. I am proud to say that I am currently learning my traditional native language. I is a difficult and rewarding language that gives me the greatest joy to be sharing with my children. The spoken sounds and the written words are absolutely fascinating.  I am proud to say that I am learning from amazing elders in my community. To ensure generational, existence of our traditional language, we must first start with, a moment, a step and the spoken the word.

Crafting an Effective Writer

Topic #2: Identify and describe a favourite activity or interest and provide at least 4 reasons why this activity or interest holds your attention and/or is enjoyable to you.

 

 

                Nyselxcin is a language currently being revived from the brink of extinction, in essence being revived by very dedicated language keepers of our Valley. Our culture, language and traditional ways of the First Nations Peoples are slowly being driven into extinction because of progress, generational issues and cultural racism. The traditional language keepers of many nations were ripped from homes and beaten into submission. The language was essentially ‘illegal’ to use for the First Nations peoples. Which, shows us why so many first nations languages were drowned out and never to be heard again. In my Valley, we have dedicated, motivated and amazing men and women that work tiresly so people like me can hear, learn and speak the language of our people. To learn, do and gift on the traditions and love to future generations. These same language keepers are showcasing and illuminating respect for our people, for ourselves, for our culture, for our language, for our traditions and for the living in harmony with others. I am proud to say that I am currently learning my language. I am proud to say that I am learning from amazing people. To ensure generational, life longevity of our traditional language, we must first start with a step, a moment, and the spoken word. Way’ lim limt!

Week #4: Creative Writtng: Journal #2

Module 2 Writing Activity
In your journal, discuss any disadvantages to the place where you live and continue your sentence practice with noun and verb phrases. Write at least one of each of the noun phrases discussed in the unit (prepositional phrase, absolute phrase, and appositive phrase) and at least two of each of the verb phrases (infinitive phrase and participial phrase). You will, therefore, write at least seven sentences for this journal activity. As in the first assignment, underline the phrase in each sentence and consider its function in both as a modifier and an aspect of your writing style.

1. I have a debilitating fear of drowning, because of this fear I am not able to fully enjoy the river that runs along our Village.
2. Each day, the weather is unpredictably surprising.
3. Our home, a flat white older home, is located directly beside the river.
4. To enter or exit our Village, go directly to the middle and the hiway runs through the centre.
5. My parents went to the High school that still is used in our Village.
6. The winds sometimes blows so wildly, that it knocks over trees. 

Week #4: Creative Writting: Journal #1

Module 1 Writing Activity
In your writing journal, you will begin to practice building sentences with adjective and adverbial clauses. For this journal entry, discuss some of the advantages of the place where you live. Using the lists associated with each of these types of clauses, write at least three (3) sentences including adjective clauses and three (3) sentences including adverbial clauses. Underline the adjective and adverbial clauses. Consider their function in both as a modifier and an aspect of your writing style.

Adjective Clauses:

1. The Village, in which I live in, is full of vibrant people.
2. Our village is surrounded with talented farmers, whom supply all of my families needs for 'real' food.
3. I can still remember coming here, when I was a little girl and loving it just as much!

 

 

Adverbial Clauses:

1. The Village, in which I live in, is full of vibrant people. Whenever, you are walking down the street, people always say "Hello".
2. Our Village is surrounded with talented farmer's whom supply all of my families needs for 'real' food. Rather than purchasing produce from the grocery store, in which is imported food!
3. I can still remember coming here, when I was a little girl and loving it just as much! Whenever we visit the "big city" I am always excited to return to our Village. 

Week #3: Creative Writting: Journal #2

Module 2 Writing Activity
In your journal, continue your observations of the scene observed in journal 1.  Note several vivid action verbs that you have already used. Revise some of your sentences using action verbs and/or write 2-3 new sentences with action verbs. Try not to use any of the forms of “to be” (is, are, was, etc.).  Underline the action verbs in your sentences. Again, you will want to keep all of these sentences at hand as you do the peer reviewed writing at the end of the unit.

Suddenly, Beth's twins fell off opposite ends of a large, rickety see saw......Well, here's to the Emergency and amazing, beautiful, and full of life children!

 

 

 

Suddenly, Beth's twin girls plummeted to the ground, falling high from the old, rickety, see saw....Well here's to another emergency room run with wailing, dramatic and hurt twins! 

Week 3: Creative Writting Journal #1

Module 1 Writing Activity
Observe a scene where people are interacting.  You might choose a restaurant or a shopping mall.  Sporting events and parks are also good places to observe people. Write 5-6 sentences describing this scene and underline the subjects of your sentences. Write a few sentences experimenting with using different types of pronouns from the tables in Unit 3.  You will want to keep all of these sentences at hand as you do the writing activities for this unit.

 

 

We were all gathered around a pick nick table at our local park.  Sally and Jane, were excitedly, jumping through the air as if  both were, majestical trapeze artists! Everyone else were lost in shouts of joy, and shrill high pitch giggles of pure happiness. Together each of us, mothers were trying hard to relieve our paranoia of falling or death defying leaps and bounds that our children were making. Suddenly, Beth's twins fell off opposite ends of a large, rickety see saw......Well, here's to the Emergency and amazing, beautiful, and full of life children!

In your journal, continue your list of nouns and adjectives by adding in five to ten verbs and adverbs. Then, write a couple of sentences using your list of nouns, adjective, verbs, and adverbs.

Crafting An Effective Writer: Week 2: Journal 1

I am currently taking a few courses which I will detail a proper introduction to in another post. Currently this course is about the 8 parts of speech. Something as a homeschooling mama I want to be quite well with. I want to make sure that I brush up on all and anything I can. I want my children to know that lifelong learning is a valuable asset, regardless of circumstance.

 

1. Thus, my online life long learning journey began in the beginning of July this year. Crafting an Effective writer is a course in which I am quite intrigued by.

Module 1 Writing Activity
In your journal, write down a list of at least five to ten nouns and five to ten adjectives as you observe a scene at home, work, or in your community.
